County Solid Waste Permit
Thank you to everyone who attended the CalRecycle Solid Waste Permit Workshop on June 27!
Over 200 people attended the meeting at the Fallbrook Library and told CalRecycle why they need to deny this permit and stop this dump once and for all. CalRecyle is expected to decide by mid-July whether they will concur with the county's approval of the project or they will deny it.

This permit has taken years to get to this point of nearly being approved. After a judge recently declared the previous permit to be invalid, Gregory Canyon Ltd (GCL) was required to reapply for a solid waste permit through the San Diego County. The County received the initial application on June 25, 2010 and declared the application complete on July 23, 2010. Below is a copy of the permit application submitted to the County.

The Pala Band of Mission Indians and Natural Resources Defense Council sent letters identifying numerous mistakes in the application and asked for a public hearing on the issue. You can read the specific deficiencies in the statement of issues and in the exhibits referenced in that document.
After several glaring mistakes were pointed out in the application, the County rescinded its determination in an August 5, 2010 letter and instead found the application to be “incomplete.” GCL fixed the mistakes in the application and it was deemed complete and correct by the county on February 1, 2011. The public information meeting to discuss the application was held February 23, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Library Community Room.
